Where the Catch Usually Sits
Most free card tools monetize in one of three places, and all three arrive after you have already invested time.
The account wall. You design a card, hit download, and a sign up form appears. It is the most common pattern and the most frustrating, because it lands at the exact moment you were ready to send.
The payment wall. Free to design, paid to export. Sometimes only the PDF is gated, which catches people who wanted to print.
The watermark. The download works and is free, then you open the file and find a logo across the corner. On a birthday card that is tolerable. On an apology it undercuts the whole thing, because it turns something personal into an advert.
Check the download step before you invest in the design. On any tool, not only this one.
